On Monday morning a new and confirmed Banksy mural appeared near Dover's ferry terminal in York Street, while on the other side of the Channel the French public went to the polling stations to elect a pro-EU president in Emmanuel Macron.
Brexit is still a contentious issue among the population, dividing households, friends and families over the dinner table. The EU mural serves as a timely reminder by the anonymous artist who highlights the fractious relationships that could develop between the UK and Europe as a worker chisels away a symbolic star... which could spread across the continent.
Like the topic, the artwork has already caused a divide with some quarters praising the work and its message and others dismissing it as boring lefty art. The beauty of art is, we don't all have to agree!
How Banksy had time to do this on the other hand is a mystery, as being no stranger to controversy, the artist currently has an immersive art-installation-hotel experience running in Bethlehem; with guests flying in from all over the world to enjoy the worst view in the world at The Walled Off Hotel.
