A note from the artist Vincent Devine:
“Using a seductive silhouette along with the shapes of muscle structures to depict the subjects physicality, I wanted to illustrate that the seductions of the flesh are much more than what is displayed and assessed on outward appearance.
I used luminescence to convey the idea put forward in the manifesto that a truly 3d view would have the capabilities of sight or vision similar to an x-ray. I want the viewer to connect with the sexuality of the human but also the fact that we are all connected, that the matters of the flesh should not overtake matters of our humanity.”
Beginning his painting practice in 2008, Vincent started to paint independently while studying for his Honours Degree in Graphic Design to explore a new way of painting. Subconscious undertones have always been prevalent in his work and he continues to defy categorisation as an artist of a certain genre due to his constant fluctuation into new and exciting styles in his painting practice. His work has been lauded by huge stars such as Shakira, Will.I.Am, Alanis Morissette and J.K Rowling to name a few and he has had work commissioned by Tyra Banks, Roisin Murphy, Iggy Azalea and has had his work feature on Madonna's "Rebel Heart Tour".`
In 2018 Vincent had a sellout show of the Irish debut of his new Manifesto work to one of Ireland's most prominent collectors. This new work is an in-depth exploration into the visual implications of the subconscious mind through various exercises and visual depictions. Vincent seeks to find answers to the subconscious undertones that have always informed his work yet eludes understanding on a conscious plane. His new work will be explored under the umbrella term "Neo-Dimensionism" and seeks to visually explain the inexplicable, paint the unpaintable. He will produce this work in tandem with his hugely popular and unique "Ambigutree Series".
"I want to paint something you cannot hold in the palm of your hand or see with the naked eye" Vincent Devine.
